Yulian Zhu-Yu

I'm a first year at UTM (University of Toronto Mississauga) for CS and Math. Some topics I have been more interested in are Robotics, Computer Vision, and Cybersecurity. Check out some of the projects I've worked on. Whats wrong with this? Send me an email!

What I've been working on

UTM Robotics Club

In progress... If you're at UTM, please come by and check us out!

Solarbotics

In Summer of 2025, I was lucky enough to work with Dave at Solarbotics! I learnt a lot about websites, servers, and Linux. They sell kits, motors, and tools. If you ever need electronic parts, check them out!

High School Robotics

Back in high school I was on the robotics team for Vex robotics. I loved working with my friends to build something cool and win tournaments.

Winning Alberta Provincials!
109 to 100 for the Blue Alliance!

VSLAM on a Roomba

Developing a self driving robot using a RGBD camera, a raspberry pi, and a Kobuki Base. Full tech stack involves ROS2 and multiple ROS packages. Used Foxglove, Rviz, and Nav. Full code is available on my Github.

High School Robotics

I had many hats during our 3 seasons. I worked on mechanical, design, and programming. Below is a picture of our robot. The code is on my github.

Better Tester

This was a program I made using the on board touch screen to control motors. It was meant as an upgrade to the included testing software which count only control one motor at a time. It was a really neat project which allowed me to get into OOP with classes and learn how displays work. Now I'm looking into OpenGL other GUI libraries.

Screen divided into 8 boxes with numbers for motors

Slime Game

A buggy project I made in grade 9 as a CALM project. Made using pygame as a desktop application. I since ported it to itch, with a couple improvements. It's nice to look back and see how much I've progressed as a programmer.
